The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced July 24, 2025, as the date for its much-anticipated National Executive Council (NEC) meeting, during which a new substantive National Chairman will be nominated.
Following an emergency session at the APC national secretariat in Abuja on Monday, the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) confirmed the development through its Deputy National Secretary, Festus Fuanter. He stated that the party had already notified the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of the scheduled NEC meeting.

The NEC meeting comes in the wake of the resignation of former chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje. Ganduje stepped down last week amidst intense political pressure and speculations of high-level negotiations involving the return of former Kano Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, to the APC ahead of 2027.
With Ganduje gone, Ali Bukar Dalori, formerly the Deputy National Chairman (North)—has stepped into the role of Acting National Chairman.
