Mobile phones, calculators, pens/biros, and earpieces are still prohibited in exam rooms, according to the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

The newest issue of the board’s weekly bulletin, which was posted on Monday, repeated the restriction on the products and was signed by JAMB registrar Ishaq Oloyede.

Smart buttons, wallets/purses, necklaces, rings, bangles, keyholders, Bluetooth gadgets, cameras, microphones, recorders, contact lenses, books, spyglasses, smartwatches, and flash drives are among the additional objects Oloyede listed as being disallowed during the exam.

The warning, according to the registrar, became urgent before this year’s UTME, which is scheduled to begin on April 29 and run through May 12.

He added that any candidate found to be going against the rule would face consequences from the board.

Oloyede further stated that no candidate would be permitted to take the exam after the scheduled start time had passed.

The registrar continued by saying that the board had included elements to significantly streamline the administration of its exams, including the use of nine keys and instructions for candidates.

Before, during, and after the exam, he urged applicants to make sure they thoroughly read and adhere to all written instructions.

Oloyede further urged the applicants to abstain from any actions that would violate the regulations governing the examination’s administration.
