The anti-corruption bureau announced this in statements published on X on Friday.
It said that 11 suspected fraudsters were apprehended by its agents during an operation at Whimpey in the Ada George area of Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
A portion of the statement said, “Several days of the commission’s monitoring in the areas and credible intelligence on their purported online fraud activities preceded their arrest.
What they’re saying
“Four cars, various phone brands, and laptop computers with fake documents were seized from them.”
There were reportedly “four brands of mobile phones” in the possession of the suspects.
Bottom Line
Lastly, it’s important to remember that cybercrime is a major problem. Arrests are important, but they ought to be a part of a bigger plan that involves working with other countries to break up these networks and educating the public about online safety.
The EFCC stated that the accused will be charged once the investigations are completed.
The agency reported that it also arrested four people during a sting operation on Thursday in Abuja as a result of intelligence and surveillance on their movements in the Kubwa region.
