Usman Baba, the Inspector-General of Police, has ordered the deployment of 86 Deputy Commissioners of Police and 206 Assistant Commissioners of Police around the country to various zonal commands, state commands, and police formations.
Senior police officers will deputize other senior Commissioners of Police and other most senior officers to carry out important administrative, investigative, and operational policing functions for a citizen-led policing system across the country.
CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force’s Public Relations Officer, stated this on Saturday in a statement obtained by our correspondent.
“The postings were done to strengthen and catalyze national security mechanisms toward an improved policing system across the country,” Adejobi explained.
The IG informed the general public that all efforts would be made to effectively police Nigeria and strengthen our internal security following the police mandate and call to duty for the welfare of our dear nation.
He charged the senior officers with ensuring a strategic display of experience, commitment to service, respect for fundamental rights, and the development of effective crime-control strategies.
He similarly charged them with achieving the Force’s strategic policy objectives, maintaining the highest level of professionalism, providing community-oriented public service, and adhering to the rule of law.
Adejobi further stated that Baba restated the NPF leadership’s commitment to upgrading policing services in all areas to suit modern policing standards and that the NPF is committed to consistently embarking on measures to strengthen internal security in Nigeria.
