Official: Chelsea signs Nigerian Midfielder Chukwuemeka

Chelsea has officially announced the signing of Chukwuemeka from Aston Villa, a Nigerian-born midfielder. Both clubs announced it on their website after reaching a suitable agreement. Chukwuemeka who is in London with his family and agents is set to undergo his medicals and discuss personal terms with the club.

“Aston Villa and Chelsea can confirm that the clubs have reached an agreement for the permanent transfer of Carney Chukwuemeka,” the statement read.

“The 18-year-old has been permitted to travel to London to discuss both personal terms and undergo a medical.“

Chukwuemeka is born to Nigerian parents in Austria, at an early age he enrolled in Aston Villa academy and got officially signed by Villa in 2020. He scored his debut goal for Aston Villa in the match against Tottenham. Paul Merson once called him an outstanding force noting that he will be an absolute star in the world of football. He has permanently transferred to Chelsea after spending six years with Aston Villa. He is also the current captain of England’s under 19 team.
