Veteran Nollywood actress Bimbo Akintola has shared fresh insight into why she does not flaunt wealth like some of her colleagues, pointing to the harsh economic structure of the Nigerian film industry.
During a recent interview, Akintola challenged the belief that acting automatically leads to financial abundance.
She explained that payments from popular platforms, including Africa Magic, are often far from sufficient to maintain the extravagant lifestyles many fans see online.

“We hear stories of some actresses who do things with politicians for money. So when people ask me why I am not rich like the others, I tell them to go ask them what other jobs they do,” she said.
She further stressed the reality of industry earnings, noting, “Cus we know how much Africa Magic & other platforms pay for a movie.”
Reflecting on her long career in Nollywood, the actress added that the public often misunderstands where wealth in the entertainment industry truly comes from, explaining that acting fees alone rarely justify the luxury many people associate with movie stars.
