In celebration of her 51st birthday, wives of the governors of Nigeria, took it upon themselves to travel to dubai to surprise the first lady, with cake and a flower bouquet. Even though this might seem as a very exemplary show of love, this action only stinks of hypocrisy. As I pen these down, I’m so angry not only with the waste of resources, but also with the selfishness and very high level of insensitivity displayed by these women.
Who sent you people? Amidst all the problems facing the country today, all you can think of is Birthday celebration? Not even in Nigeria, but to travel all the way to Dubai? Who have we offended in this country?
Let’s start from the very pressing issue of Nigerian children stranded in Ukraine with no clue on how to return home. Other countries, even Ghana, have sent planes to evacuate their people in Ukraine. Lets say our male leader are not concerned about these developments, but how will mothers who are believed to have motherly instinct keep quiet? Oh, their children are not in Ukraine, right? Yet you all could travel with so much money for just a birthday? What productive development has come from that birthday? Did you people discuss anything meaningful to help our stranded children?
ASUU and Federal Government are still going back and forth with no clue on how to resolve this pending issue of Strike. Youths are the leaders of tomorrow, yet nothing is put in place to make them good leaders. Our supposed mothers are busy looking for Favouritism in the eyes of a first lady who doesn’t even care one bit. Too much talk, zero action!
Nigerians are busy dealing with fuel scarcity and lots of other unpleasant situations, yet our president and his wife are not even in the country. Isn’t it beautiful?
The day mothers would decide to stand up for the nation, maybe then the Lord would have mercy upon us. As wives of governors, what have these women done for the betterment of the nation?
Someone said if it was Patience Jonathan, she would have stood up and done alot especially for the students stuck in Ukraine. While I believe that this is true, I still believe that she doesn’t have to be a first lady before something can be done. They all have the resources to help, yet nothing is happening.
Nigeria still has a very long way to go.
