As a skincare enthusiast, I’ll always advocate for original, authentic products purchased from verified beauty stores or pharmacies; however, if the skin issues can be solved by natural ingredients, I’ll pick it over the former option.

I know I’m not the only one that sometimes idly wonders what the ‘ultimate’ secret to flawless, spot-free skin could be. Well, thanks to the endless research of dermatologists, it turns out this much sought after secret may just be hiding in our kitchens (food produce) and the best part? These foods are readily accessible I.e you can get it at the local market or supermarket.

If you’re ready to finally be rid of black spots and welcome radiant, glowy skin, read on because this article is specially curated for you.

Almonds are rich with vitamin E, which can be helpful in repairing skin and reducing the appearance of dark spots. Simply eating a handful of almonds daily or using almond oil on your skin can help improve your complexion and reduce the appearance of dark spots.

2. Papaya

Papaya contains enzymes and minerals that are useful for the skin. Merely applying a paste of papaya mixed together with honey on the affected areas can help in treating  dark spots. In addition, this tropical fruit also gives your skin a beautiful glow. It is recommended for you to use this mask regularly for optimum results.

3. Spinach

Spinach is rich in vitamins A, C, and K, all of which are beneficial for the skin. These vitamins help reduce dark spots and promote clear, even skin tone when it is included in one’s diet.

4. Lemon and Honey

Lemon and honey are two marvelous duos when it comes to skincare and you’ve probably heard this from doctors too. Drinking a glass of lemon water with a teaspoon of honey can naturally flush out toxins from your body. The antioxidants and vitamin C in lemon encourages collagen synthesis, while honey’s rich antioxidants act as a natural bleaching agent. This combo helps in removing dark spots and pigmentation while still giving the skin a natural glow.

5. Cucumber

Ever wonder why cucumber slices are applied to the face when face masks are on? It’s because cucumber is known for its soothing and anti-inflammatory properties. Applying cucumber slices or juice to your skin can help to reduce blemishes, black or brown spots while also brightening and refreshing the skin.

6. Avocado

Avocado is abundant in healthy fats, vitamins E and C, helping to nourish the skin and reduce dark spots. Applying avocado masks or including avocados in your diet can give you these wonderful benefits

7. Aloe Vera Juice

Aloe vera is packed with vitamins A, B, C, and E, making it great for both skin and overall health. Applying aloe vera gel directly to the skin can help fade dark spots and reduce pigmentation. Alternatively, you can drink aloe vera juice to nourish your skin from within.

8. Green Tea

Green tea is not just a refreshing beverage; it’s also beneficial for the skin. This is because it contains antioxidants which help to fight free radicals and reduce inflammation, which in turn helps in reducing dark spots.

9. Turmeric

This beloved kitchen seasoning has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties that can help reduce hyperpigmentation and even out skin tone thanks to curcumin– an active ingredient in the spice. To use, add turmeric to your diet or apply it as a mask directly to your skin

10. Tomatoes

Tomatoes are rich in lycopene, which helps to protect the skin from sun damage. It also helps to reduce the appearance of dark spots. To use, apply tomato pulp directly to the skin or include it regularly in your diet.

11. Carrots

Carrots contain rich levels of beta-carotene and vitamin A, both of which help reduce dark spots and improve skin health. Drinking carrot juice or including carrots regularly (preferably eaten fresh as is) can help improve one’s complexion.

12. Oatmeal

Love it or hate it, oatmeal is an incredible food that has lots of surprising benefits, one of which includes exfoliating properties that helps remove dead skin cells and reduce dark spots. To use, try applying oatmeal masks or including oatmeal in your diet — there are various ways to do this.

13. Pumpkin Seeds

Pumpkin seeds are an excellent source of zinc, which helps to repair skin and reduce dark spots. Snacking on pumpkin seeds or adding them to your meals are the recommended ways to use them.
