Ruben Amorim secured his maiden win as Manchester United boss in style, as the Red Devils fought back to pip Bodø/Glimt 3-2 at Old Trafford, extending their unbeaten home run to six matches in all competitions.
United’s bright start was rewarded with Alejandro Garnacho tapping into an empty net just 49 seconds in, as Rasmus Højlund’s relentless pressing on Bodø goalkeeper Nikita Haikin earned the opener. But in keeping with much of United’s campaign, a familiar frailty surfaced as United conceded twice in quick succession. First, Håkon Evjen’s sublime curler levelled things, before Philip Zinckernagel raced past Tyrell Malacia to fire Bodø ahead.
Højlund restored parity on the stroke of halftime, expertly controlling Noussair Mazraoui’s cross before slotting into the bottom corner. United emerged stronger after the break, with Mason Mount striking the post before orchestrating a decisive move. His precise pass released Manuel Ugarte, whose cutback found Højlund for a clinical finish to seal his brace.
Despite missed chances from Garnacho and Marcus Rashford, United held firm, aided by Andre Onana’s late heroics. The win, their second consecutive in the Europa League, moves them within a point of the qualification places, while Bodø suffered a second straight defeat.
