Atiku and Obi Share Breakfast: A Reminder Politics is Just a Game?

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar recently hosted Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, for breakfast at his residence in Adamawa State.

Atiku shared the moment in a video posted on X.com (formerly Twitter) on Saturday. Alongside the clip, he wrote, “It is breakfast time with my friend, #PeterObi, in the ‘land of beauty.’”

The video showed the two political contestants, along with others, sitting around a dining table, seemingly enjoying a casual meal. While it appeared as a friendly gathering, we can’t help but wonder, what’s the real message here?

For years, their political supporters have battled it out on the streets and online, often bitterly divided. But this video serves as yet another reminder that these politicians, despite public rivalries, know how to set aside differences and sit down together when it matters—something their followers might want to take note of.

It’s a curious thing about Nigerian politics: the people fight, the leaders dine. So maybe the next time we’re busy arguing or clashing over party affiliations, we should pause and remember, these people are breaking bread while we bear the brunt of their policies.
