The Indigenous People of Biafra, popularly known as IPOB, has disowned the self-acclaimed second declaration of Biafra in Finland. The group called it a scam, insisting that the only valid declaration is that which was done in 1967 by the late Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu.
IPOB said it remained focused on the restoration of Biafra sovereignty, appealing to peaceful methods of achieving the UN-supervised referendum, and further condemned what is called the Finland declaration, as an infiltrators’ ploy aimed at destabilizing the Southeast and diversionary from the genuine struggle for self-determination.
The group called on Biafrans and supporters to remain focused and reject any fraudulent attempts that may derail the movement. IPOB said it remained steadfast to the ideals of its leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, and the original vision for Biafra’s independence.
