Tenacious United Keep Going for Huge Three Points

Manchester United battled adversity with a hard-fought 3-2 win over Ipswich Town at Old Trafford to make it three home wins in a row against newly-promoted sides this term. The visitors went ahead in helter-skelter fashion, André Onana rushing off his line to set up Patrick Dorgu’s assist for a simple Jaden Philogene finish. But United came back strongly, leveling when Bruno Fernandes’ free-kick deflected in off Sam Morsy.

Matthijs de Ligt reacted quickest to a loose ball in the box minutes later and turned the game on its head, giving the Red Devils the lead. At the interval United suffered a huge blow when Dorgu was shown a straight red card for a late challenge on Omari Hutchinson. Ipswich took advantage of their numerical superiority when Philogene’s cross crept into the net for an equaliser.

Down to 10 men, however, United regained the lead early in the second half when Harry Maguire bulleted a header past Alex Palmer from a corner taken by Bruno Fernandes. The visitors pushed for an equaliser, but United’s resolve saw them take a crucial three points that ended a three-match winless streak and handed Ipswich their sixth loss in seven outings.

Arsenal’s Title Hopes Falter Again

Another setback in Arsenal’s Premier League title ambitions as they have to settle for a goalless draw against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground. The Gunners had little clinical attacking presence up front, and struggled to break down an organized Forest defense.

Riccardo Calafiori came closest in the first half, hitting the post after turning cleverly inside the box. Mikel Arteta’s side were better after the break, Mikel Merino forcing a fine save out of Matz Sels and Kieran Tierney heading inches wide. Forest, meanwhile, came close through Chris Wood, though a last-gap challenge from William Saliba saved a point for the visitors.

The result leaves Arsenal in peril of losing further ground in the title race, with another frustrating performance for Mikel Arteta’s side raising questions over the team’s attacking efficiency.

Liverpool Pull Further Away at the Top

Liverpool moved 13 points clear at the top of the table by beating Newcastle 2-0 at Anfield. Dominik Szoboszlai scored within 11 minutes, finishing from Luis Díaz’s assist.

Callum Wilson spurned a gilt-edged chance for the Magpies before Szoboszlai went close to adding a second. Mohamed Salah helped set up Alexis Mac Allister to seal the win in the second half, as he thrashed a shot past Nick Pope.

The victory consolidates Liverpool’s position at the top of the title race and Arne Slot’s rampaging side continued to sizzle, even with their top names absent. Newcastle, meanwhile, are still in trouble in their quest to qualify for Europe.

City Rejoin Top Four With Narrow Win

Makeda Croal Manchester City bounced back from their defeat to Liverpool with a 1-0 win against Tottenham. Erling Haaland had the only goal of the game, tapping in after a very good pass from Jérémy Doku’s after the striker passed up two earlier opportunities.

After the break Spurs were more of a threat and tested Ederson with Kevin Danso and Rodrigo Bentancur, but Wilson Odobert squandered a gilt-edged chance to bring them level. In the end, City survived, returning to fourth place and remaining in the Champions League search.

As the title race heats up, Liverpool are looking full steam ahead, and Arsenal and City find themselves with a mountain to climb to keep up. United’s gritty victory keeps alive their hopes of European football as they try to build some momentum in the decisive weeks to come.
