Nigerian actor Femi Branch has claimed that because of “poor publicity,” Desmond Elliot’s admirable political actions go unrecognised.

Because of X’s political remarks and deeds, Elliot, a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, has frequently been the target of criticism.

Branch commended Elliot’s political performance in an interview with Nollywood on Radio, stating that he should be honoured for his work.

He believed Elliot’s biggest issue has been a lack of visibility, noting that many of his efforts to his district go unrecognised.

The movie star went on to say that although those in positions of authority frequently receive credit for Elliot’s work, his efforts may also be overlooked by them.

“I want to praise Desmond Elliot because he has been the actor who has been consistent with politics,” he said.

“I think the problem Desmond has had over the time is probably poor PR because I know a lot of things that he is doing in the constituency.

“There is also the possibility that his case is the case of being under a boss on the political ladder. So when you do something, they don’t give you credit for it. Rather, they give it to the boss.

“I would tell you that Desmond is doing very well.”

Elliot caused a stir on social media in February when he gave out perfumes to his constituents in the Surulere by-election.

Even while he had previously denied any role in advocating for social media regulation, he came under fire in 2020 for seeming to embrace it.
