Kylian Mbappe’s lawyers have made a significant move in his ongoing battle that will see him claim €55 million in unfinished wages from previous club Paris Saint-Germain. On Thursday, lawyers representing Mbappe revealed they have frozen PSG’s accounts via a Paris court in a ratchet-up of a facay that has rumbled on since his transfer to Real Madrid last year.

“We’re going on the attack,” Mbappe’s lawyer, Delphine Verheyden, said at a news conference. Another legal expert, Thomas Clay, confirmed that PSG’s accounts had been subject to a protective seizure of €55 million.

The French League had ordered PSG to pay the amount earlier, but the French Football Federation said the amount could not be paid because civil proceedings were ongoing. PSG said the issue should be handled by the labour chamber, maintaining Mbappe is an employee like any other and must respect his commitments.

Mbappe’s team filed a harassment complaint against his club, contrary to PSG’s appeal for an amicable resolution, and accusing his club of pressuring him to renew his contract in 2023. The club, though, insists Mbappe broke an amended agreement before joining Madrid.

Although both sides have expressed interest in resolving the dispute, the legal standoff seems far from resolved.
