Peter Okoye, one-half of the iconic Nigerian music duo PSquare, has opened up about the real reason behind the group’s infamous split, pointing fingers at fans for playing a major role in the fallout.

Speaking at the recent AYLIVE show, Peter revealed that constant comparisons between him and his twin brother, Paul Okoye, created unnecessary tension and inflated egos, which gradually tore the group apart.

According to him, many supporters were more focused on picking sides rather than appreciating their collective talent, a dynamic that ultimately led to a rift.

“Fans are the reasons PSquare no dey together today. Two brothers dey do one thing, ona dey talk say one better pass one, e con enter one head, he begin misbehave. If ona like make ona dey go house, I no send una,” Peter said during his performance.

PSquare, made up of Peter and Paul Okoye, rose to fame in the early 2000s with chart-topping tracks like Bizzy Body, E No Easy, and Personally. The duo, known for their electrifying stage presence and dance-heavy videos, dominated the Afrobeats scene and enjoyed massive success across the continent.

Despite their success, internal issues began to surface, and by 2017, the group officially disbanded. Their older brother, Jude Okoye, who had been managing them under their label, PClassic, was also entangled in the drama, with disputes over finances, creative direction, and control contributing to the breakdown.

Although the brothers eventually reconciled in 2021, Peter’s latest comments reignite the conversation about how fan culture can sometimes do more harm than good when it comes to group dynamics.
