A heartbreaking discovery was made in the Ọja Odan area of Ogun State, where the dismembered remains of 80-year-old Ayodele Ogundipe, who had earlier been declared missing on April 24, 2025, were found.

Spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the development to PUNCH Online on Friday.

Odutola stated, “The Ogun State Police Command has launched an investigation into the disturbing discovery of the body of an 80-year-old woman, Ayodele Ogundipe, who was reported missing on April 24, 2025.”

She explained that Ogundipe’s family raised an alarm to the Oja Odan Divisional Police when she failed to return home from her farm.

“Family members promptly notified the Oja Odan Division after the elderly woman did not return from her farming activities,” Odutola said.

Following the report, a search team comprising family members and local residents was organized. On April 25, 2025, they stumbled upon a gruesome scene at her farm located along the Oja-Odan/Ohunbe Road.

“During the search operation conducted on April 25, 2025, the team discovered her remains in a dismembered state at the farm,” Odutola revealed.

In reaction to the incident, the Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, ordered the deployment of undercover operatives to track down those responsible for what is suspected to be a ritual killing.

Odutola noted, “Following the horrifying discovery, the Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, has initiated covert operations aimed at apprehending the perpetrators.”

The police commissioner extended his condolences to the Ogundipe family and reassured the public that thorough efforts were underway to ensure justice is served.

“He emphasized that the protection of lives remains a top priority for the command and promised to keep the public updated as investigations progress,” she added.
