A prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano, Alhaji Alhassan Yaryasa, has said that Abdullahi Ganduje’s resignation as National Chairman of the APC was not out of goodwill, but a smart move to avoid looming humiliation. According to him, Ganduje’s exit was a “wise and timely decision” that helped him save face before he could be pushed out.

Speaking in a telephone interview on Sunday, Yaryasa claimed that powerful political forces had already perfected plans to remove Ganduje from office if he had failed to step aside voluntarily.

Ganduje Resigned to Avoid Disgrace Over Tinubu-Kwankwaso Deal

Alhassan Yaryasa alleged that there were “secret plans” tied to the Presidency to ease Ganduje out in favour of bringing former Kano Governor, Senator Rabi’u Kwankwaso, into the APC as a potential running mate to President Bola Tinubu in 2027. “We knew there was a plan to bring Senator Rabi’u Kwankwaso into the APC and possibly be running mate of President Bola Tinubu in 2027. Whatever the case may be, the decision taken by Ganduje to resign is the best option for him before they disgrace him out of office,” he said.

This revelation, if true, could signal a dramatic political realignment ahead of the next general elections, and a strategic shift by the Tinubu-led administration.

Ganduje Deserves Respect Despite Pressure, Says Yaryasa

Yaryasa, a former coordinator of the Tinubu Campaign Organisation for Kano South, praised Ganduje for his leadership during his time in the APC, noting that he helped attract key political figures to the party. “Don’t forget Ganduje was able to bring key politicians from other parties into the APC, such as senators and Reps members who recently defected from other parties and joined the APC,” he added.

Despite the circumstances surrounding his resignation, Yaryasa said Ganduje’s achievements should not be ignored, and he should be remembered for strengthening the party at both state and national levels.

Ganduje Resigned to Avoid Disgrace, But Who Takes Over?

Yaryasa also weighed in on the debate about which zone should produce the next National Chairman of the APC, calling for due process and fairness. “Whichever zone is supposed to produce the National Chairman of the party should be given the chance to do so. This is necessary in order to ensure fairness,” he said.

While Ganduje’s exit may have looked honourable on the surface, Yaryasa’s comments suggest that the real story is one of political survival. The question now is whether his resignation is part of a broader power shift within the APC — and if the alleged Tinubu-Kwankwaso arrangement is just the beginning of more political trade-offs ahead of 2027.

Ganduje Resigned to Avoid Disgrace, Claims Party Insider

With Yaryasa’s bold revelation that Ganduje resigned to avoid disgrace, Nigerians are once again reminded that in Nigerian politics, nothing is ever just as it seems. Resignations are rarely without pressure, and voluntary exits often come with a backstory. This one, apparently, was all about beating disgrace to the finish line.
