Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has firmly responded to what he called politically expired critics. According to Wike, these individuals refuse to acknowledge the work being done by President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

Speaking boldly during the commissioning of major road projects in the Ushafa-Bwari area of Abuja, Wike insisted that those constantly attacking the current government are simply blinded by their own political failures.

Wike Slams Politically Expired Critics During Road Commissioning

At the commissioning, which was attended by Vice President Kashim Shettima on behalf of President Tinubu, Wike stated, “Let them hear. Let those who don’t have vision, who are politically expired, and those who, since 1999, have belonged to over 10 political parties—let them see what you’re doing.”

He further added, “Whichever channel they want to watch, they will see Mr President. And yet, people are saying nothing is working. Must we come to their houses before they know something is working? Unfortunately, we won’t come to their houses.”

The road commissioning focused on the dualisation and upgrade of the War College/Army checkpoint road, alongside other auxiliary roads in the Ushafa-Bwari axis of the FCT. Wike used the moment to highlight the progress made under Tinubu’s leadership, noting that these projects are clear signs of development.

Wike did not stop there. He also praised the contractors and FCT project coordinators for their dedication but gave a firm warning about his no-nonsense approach to leadership.

He said, “Working with me is not easy. If you survive working with me, you can survive anywhere. You cannot be nominated for a position to just ‘chop.’ You must work. You must make sacrifices and show that you have the capacity. There are people you give a position, and they think it’s just for publicity. Some take it as an opportunity to express themselves instead of doing the actual work.”

This statement was clearly aimed at those who may seek government positions for personal gain, rather than genuine service.

Wike continued by praising Tinubu and Shettima for being the first President and Vice President to visit satellite towns and connect with ordinary citizens.

He said, “This is the first time a sitting President and Vice President will go to the satellite towns to identify with the people. It has never happened. This shows the love Mr President has for the satellite towns.”

He stressed that the newly commissioned roads were only a part of Tinubu’s broader plan to extend development to neglected areas within the FCT.

Throughout his speech, Wike made it clear that his message was directed at those he labelled as politically expired critics. He openly challenged them to acknowledge the real progress taking place in Abuja and across the country.

Wike’s strong words have once again shown his no-holds-barred style as he continues to defend the Tinubu administration. For him, those still criticizing the government are simply stuck in the past, unwilling to accept that change is happening.
