Carlos Alcaraz and Aryna Sabalenka got on with their victories during the day on Tuesday to reach the Wimbledon semi-finals. To be honest, the nature of their wins was completely different.

On Centre Court, Alcaraz, the defending the title, after uncertain beginning won 6-2, 6-3, 6-3 against Cameron Norrie from Britain. The local was briefly in trouble after he faced triple break points in his first service game, but at that point he played a magnificent game and extended his winning streak to 23 matches. An unseeded Norrie could not match Alcaraz’s power and speed and now the Spaniard will play against American Taylor Fritz in the semi-finals.

On the other hand, Sabalenka needed to spend a lot of effort to get the better of 37-year-old German Laura Siegemund in three sets before she could feel the taste of victory. The number one seed was completely off her game at the very beginning and hence she lost 4-6 in the first set to Siegemund, whose shot-making was very clever and slice-based and it worked very well against Sabalenka. But Sabalenka, by virtue of her power and grit, managed to grab the following sets 6-2, 6-4 in a match that lasted almost three hours.

It seems that the 104th-seeded Siegemund was no match for Sabalenka, whose effective output of old fashioned style kept Sabalenka on the offensive. Just like that, energy and the inner fire were the winning factors for the Belarusian.

After all, Sabalenka is a newcomer at Wimbledon and thus she is going to face either Amanda Anisimova or Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in the last race for the final four once this game is over.

Both top seeds have definitely kept their hopes alive for the Wimbledon trophy after some very contrasting matches under the sun, they have comfortably defeated their opponents.
