June Salaries Delay: Accountant General Blames Zenith Bank Glitch

The delay in the payment of June 2025 salaries for many federal civil servants has been traced to technical issues, according to the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation. This issue has affected workers across various government agencies, especially those with Zenith Bank accounts.

June Salaries Delay Linked To Technical Glitch

In a statement released on Friday, Bawa Mokwa, spokesperson for the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation, confirmed that several complaints were received from workers regarding their unpaid June 2025 salaries.

Following an investigation, the office discovered that a network glitch occurred during salary processing at the bank, affecting employees from several Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).

The statement noted, “Upon investigation, it was discovered that the salary payments for employees across various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies, MDAs, were affected due to a technical network glitch during the processing of salaries at the bank.”

Accountant General Assures Prompt Resolution Of Salary Delay

The Accountant General’s office acknowledged the frustration caused by the salary delay. The statement read, “The OAGF understands the anxiety and frustration this situation has caused, particularly given the importance of timely salary payments to the livelihoods and responsibilities of our valued public servants.”

It further assured affected employees that immediate steps have been taken to fix the problem. The statement stressed that the office is working closely with all service providers to reprocess the failed payments quickly.

“We deeply regret the inconvenience this unfortunate incident has caused and wish to assure all affected employees that immediate steps have been taken to resolve the issue,” the statement continued.

OAGF Vows To Reprocess Payments Swiftly And Uphold Accountability

The Office of the Accountant General of the Federation reiterated its commitment to reprocess the payments as quickly as possible. It also assured that staff welfare remains a top priority.

Mokwa added, “Concrete steps have already been taken to isolate the problem, and arrangements are underway to reprocess the failed payments in the shortest possible time.”

The statement concluded by reaffirming the office’s commitment to accountability and efficiency in payroll operations, saying, “The OAGF remains fully committed to transparency, accountability, and efficiency in all payroll operations and is open to continuous engagement with stakeholders to ensure sustained improvements in our service delivery.”

The June salaries delay, especially affecting workers with Zenith Bank accounts, has drawn widespread attention. The Office of the Accountant General of the Federation has vowed to resolve the issue and reprocess all failed payments, assuring that all affected employees will receive their salaries without further delay.
