Alexander Isak is reported to be in touch with Newcastle United to let them know he wants to leave the club this summer. There is also new interest from Liverpool and the Saudi Pro League club Al Hilal.

Isak, aged 24, who was notably absent from the Magpies’ pre-season squad owing to a “thigh injury,” was recently observed training by himself, away from the main group, thus fueling speculation about his possible departure.

On the basis of The Daily Mail and The Times news, Isak is said to have turned down the Magpies’ pleas to sign a new contract that would make him the highest-paid player of Newcastle.

The Swedish international is reported to be calling for a wage package of approximately £300,000 ($406,500) per week and is also very definite to the club that he is to take a look at his alternatives first.

Liverpool are keeping a close eye on the development, however, they would probably have to break the British transfer record—the one that is currently £116m ($157.3m) for Florian Wirtz—to get hold of Isak. The Magpies, who may go as far as making a £150 million ($203.4 million) offer, are possibly waiting for that to keep hold of their star player.

It is worth mentioning here that Isak is still in the Newcastle City limit till 2028 providing the club with a 2026 exit option if the player consents to stay for the upcoming season.
