Nigerian international Ademola Lookman has officially submitted a transfer request to Atalanta, citing “broken promises” and that he needed a new challenge.
In a very emotional post on social media on Sunday, the 26-year-old revealed that he is looking for a peaceful departure after three years with the Serie A side.
Lookman, who scored 52 goals in 117 appearances for La Dea, said that he had always been the best player both on and off the field and he remembers the winning of the Europa League in Dublin as a great moment.
However, he now asserts that the club is blocking a move without changing their mind, even though they had said that if a good offer comes, they will not oppose his leaving.“Unfortunately, I no longer feel like I have any other option but to make my voice heard. It’s time,” Lookman said, admitting that in this time he has been treated very badly behind the scenes while keeping it to himself.
The case has been a meadow for Atalanta fans’ anger. A banner drawn at the training ground of the club in Zingonia stated that “ungrateful players” have disrespected supporters. It is said that among the shooting parties that are following Lookman are Inter Milan, but Atalanta is asking for € 50 million to let the player go.
Lookman ended by showing gratitude to the fans for their continuous support and calling it unfortunate how things have transpired.
