The 2025 summer transfer market has officially closed. Countless new records accompanied the transfer window and fees that left observers wide-mouthed were the order of the day. The period was one of the most dramatic in soccer history, as football clubs all over the world—including those in Europe—have been going broke trying to get the best players by paying up. Specifically, the English Premier League was the most active club in the market and made the most purchases. Their total expenditure exceeded 3 billion pounds sterling, which means the amount of money spent last year has tripled.

The top news of the summer probably is the one related to Liverpool. They have signed Alexander Isak from Newcastle in not significantly less than £125 million, a deal that has set the British transfer record for the Swedish striker. In addition, the Reds invested £116 million in acquiring the versatile German youth star, Florian Wirtz, from Bayer Leverkusen. The outcome was that these two signings were the ones with the most significant amounts during this transfer session.

On another side of the channel, these transfers shook the entire seed of soccer with new moves that were off-the-scale dramatically. On the other hand, in order to fill his gaps, Manchester United
signed several high-profile players. The first player that belongs to this category is Benjamin Sesko, whom they bought from RB Leipzig for £73.7 million. The second is forward Bryan Mbeumo, brought from Brentford at the price of £71 million. Expect both of them to be the core of United’s offensive renovation project.

At the same time, Newcastle United did not hold back with their money either and went for French forward Hugo Ekitike at Eintracht Frankfurt, paying £79 million for the deal after losing Isak to England champions, Liverpool

Napoli’s Victor Osimhen was purchased for £64.8 million. The transfers that have taken place over the last several months have had an effect on the trend of dominance changing within different leagues but simultaneously have established a new benchmark in player valuations showing that clubs are prepared to spend a lot to get players like these.

Based on the latest reports from the summer 2025 transfer window, here are the top 10 most expensive transfers with their price tags.

1. Alexander Isak: Newcastle to Liverpool – £125 million (€145 million)
2. Florian Wirtz: Bayer Leverkusen to Liverpool – £116 million (€125 million)
