Inside Temi Otedola and Mr Eazi’s Three-Continent Wedding Extravaganza

For years, Nigerian high-society weddings have been defined by their sheer scale and opulence right here at home. Think massive halls filled with thousands of guests, diamond-crusted cakes, and performances by the biggest names in Afrobeats. But the Temi Otedola and Mr Eazi wedding breaks this mold entirely. Their approach prioritized intimacy and exclusivity over a public spectacle.

The first ceremony, a private civil wedding in Monaco, was a discreet legal affair. The second, a traditional Yoruba wedding at a family residence in Dubai, masterfully brought cultural heritage to a neutral, luxurious ground. The final “white wedding” in the otherworldly landscape of Iceland was the ultimate escape, a secluded fairytale against a backdrop of glaciers and volcanoes.

I have to admit, the quiet release of photos from Temi Otedola and Mr Eazi’s three-part wedding was masterfully calculated and dare I say, has just reset the standard for Nigeria’s elite. By choosing the less trailed route of throwing a trilogy of bespoke celebrations in Monaco, Dubai, and Iceland, the couple and their families have brilliantly navigated the complexities of culture, privacy, and extravagant wealth.

The couple curated every aspect, from the designer outfits by Zac Posen and Fendi, to a surprise performance by John Legend, ensuring their wedding reflected their personal journey, not just their wealth.

The Ajibade’s:  A Wedding in Three Acts

The couple’s decision to host three distinct ceremonies was far from arbitrary. Each location was specially chosen for its profound personal and cultural significance, creating a narrative arc for their journey into marriage.

Act I: Monaco (May 9, 2025)

A chic and intimate civil ceremony was held on the birthday of Mr Eazi’s late mother, honoring her memory in a place the Otedola family calls a second home

Act II: Dubai (July 2025)

A vibrant, multi-outfit traditional Yoruba ceremony held at the Otedola family residence, celebrating their Nigerian roots with unparalleled grandeur.

Act III: Iceland (August 8, 2025)

A breathtakingly ethereal “white wedding” in the dramatic landscape of Reykjavík, providing a serene and romantic finale to their nuptials.

This way the events were structured allowed the couple to honor every facet of their identity: their personal histories, their rich cultural heritage, and their global, modern outlook.

The Fashion Highlights from the Couple

Temi Otedola, a renowned fashion icon and actress, collaborated with stylist Carrie Goldberg to create a sartorial journey that was the cornerstone of the weddings’ luxury. With over 12 custom looks from a mix of legendary and emerging designers, each outfit was breathtaking, to say the least. Of course, no one was all that surprised with the looks, given that Temi herself is a fashion collector

The Monaco Look:

For the legal ceremony at Mairie de Monaco, Temi broke the traditional bridal expectations by choosing to wear a custom, tailored suit and veil by Wiederhoeft, accessorized with jewelry by Briony Raymond. Mr Eazi complemented her in a custom Louis Vuitton.

The Dubai Traditional Look:

Notable designer Zac Posen crafted an ivory sculptural gown with a dramatic bow-train, described as a “Nefertiti-like” as his take on the Yoruba bridal silhouette. Miss Sohee then crafted a dramatic cape in deep red and powder blue, hand-embroidered with the couple’s love story.

Lisa Folawiyo did justice in her reimagination of the traditional akwa ocha fabric into a beaded, fringed masterpiece to honor Mr Eazi’s late mother’s Igbo heritage.

For the third and last outfit for the Dubai event, Temi wore an Oscar de la Renta gown showcasing timeless elegance.

Iceland’s White Wedding Look:

For the white wedding at Hallgrímskirkja Church, Temi got wed to her beau in a Fendi Haute Couture gown which was inspired by Audrey Hepburn and crafted from a marble-like organza developed by Karl Lagerfeld. The reception and after-party saw her in a sculptural piece by House of Gilles and a custom crystal mesh mini-dress by Ludovic de Saint Sernin.

The Exclusive Details from the Weddings

Beyond the fashion, the weddings were defined by extraordinary details and A-list services.

World-Renowned Photographer: The couple enlisted Jose Villa, one of the top five wedding photographers in the world, whose services command fees starting at $50,000 to capture their day.

A Surprise Musical Performance: At the Icelandic reception, held in a glass tent against a wilderness backdrop, American music legend John Legend gave a surprise private performance for the guests.

Exclusive Guest List: The events gathered Africa’s elite, including billionaires Aliko Dangote and Abdul Samad Rabiu, family, and top creatives, all hosted at legendary venues like Karl Lagerfeld’s former villa, Villa La Vigie in Monaco.

Sentimental Touches: The Monaco date (May 9) was the birthday of Mr Eazi’s late mother. In Dubai, the celebration featured traditional Nigerian dishes like pounded yam and egusi, and a performance by iconic musician King Sunny Adé.

A Father’s Blessing: Femi Otedola’s Advice

A particularly poignant moment was the speech by billionaire patriarch Femi Otedola. His advice blended traditional values with modern support, telling his daughter, “You have to succumb to the whims and caprices of your husband. Okay? He’s your husband, he’s your boss. There’s no more dad,” while also praising their entrepreneurial spirits and “hustler” mentality as a match “made in heaven”.

The Impact of this Wedding

The impact of these weddings extended beyond the celebrations themselves. Temi’s official adoption of the surname ‘Ajibade’ sparked conversations in Nigerian feminist circles about the tradition of name-changing. Furthermore, Mr Eazi expressed that the experience inspired him to create more love songs, particularly stripped-back acoustic tracks for future Nigerian weddings.
