Reality TV star and entrepreneur Natasha Akide, popularly known as Tacha, has shared why she decided to host her Guinness World Record attempt for the most makeovers completed in 24 hours in Lagos, Nigeria, rather than in the United Kingdom.
Speaking with influencer Egungun at her Tacha Beauty Festival, the former Big Brother Naija star explained that her choice was driven by a strong desire to celebrate Nigeria’s creativity and entrepreneurial spirit.
“For me, London won’t give me the vibes I want. I had sponsorship offers from international brands and we initially planned to do it in London. But it always makes sense to carry your country along,” Tacha said.
She added that the goal went beyond setting a global record, emphasizing the opportunity to showcase the talent, energy, and potential of Nigeria’s beauty industry.
The 24-hour makeover marathon kicked off on Saturday night in Lagos, with Tacha aiming to complete 150 makeovers within the timeframe. By Sunday morning, she had reportedly finished 115 makeovers in just 12 hours, already surpassing the previous Guinness World Record of 113 makeovers completed in 24 hours.
The record-breaking attempt is part of the ongoing Tacha Beauty Festival, a three-day event running from October 10 to 12, which celebrates beauty, culture, and the resilience of Nigeria’s creative industry.
