It’s the final week of the football season but there are still battles to be won across Europe’s top 5 leagues for different reasons.

Some teams are still fighting for the league title, some are in for the European competitions spot while there are some fighting for survival. Here is a breakdown of what you need to know…

League title Battle

Liverpool’s quest for a quadruple is hanging in the balance as they face off against Wolverhampton Wanderers in the final game of the season on Sunday, Jurgen Klopp and his side need a win and will be hoping Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City side drop a point against Aston Villa.

The Serie A title is already in Milan waiting to go to either Inter Milan or the Rossoneri, Milan will be crowned Champions if they win against Sassuolo regardless of whatever happens in the game between city rivals Inter and Sampdoria. Although Simeone Inzaghi’s might also win the title if Sassuolo defeats AC Milan.

Carlo Ancelloti’s men have been crowned champions of La Liga for the 35th time after they defeated Espanyol 4-0 back in April.

Paris Saint-German needed a draw in their last game against Lens to secure the league and Lionel Messi’s goal made sure they have crowned Champions of the French league after one whole draw also in April.

Champions League Spot Battle

Tottenham Hotspurs are in a good position and will only be needing a point when they take on already-relegated Norwich for a spot in next season’s Champions League. Arsenal will be up against Everton they just secured their Premier League status when they came from two goals down to defeat Crystal Palace on Thursday. If the Gunners should defeat Frank Lampard’s boys and Conte’s boys drop a point at Carrow road then Arsenal will finish fourth and join Manchester City, Liverpool, and Chelsea for Champions League football next season.

In Spain, Champions League spots have been secured by Real Madrid, Barcelona in second place with Sevilla and Atlético Madrid both joining after their last matches.

It’s the same in Serie A, the two Milan clubs fighting for the title already secured Champions League spots and are also joined by Napoli in third place and Juventus in the fourth position.

However, it’s a different case in France, with Monaco in second place and Marseille in third place both on the same point only need a point from their last game to be guaranteed a Champions League spot. Any defeat from the aforementioned will give Rennes the chance to go up to the third position.

Bundesliga might have five teams in the Champions League next season as Eintract Frankfurt was crowned the Champions of the Europa League. If RB Leipzig should qualify from the playoff rounds then the UCL might have five German teams in the competition next season. Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, and Bayer Leverkusen already secured spots.

Battle for other European Tickets

Manchester United needs to beat Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Sunday to secure the second spot for Europa League while David Moyes’s men also need a win against Brighton Albion. The team with the fewer point at the end of the day will be playing in the European Conference League next season.

In Spain, the Europa League spots have been secured by Real Betis and Real Sociedad but the qualification for Europa Conference League is yet to be decided with Villarreal and Atletico Club both on a point difference, the former must win against Barcelona in respective of whatever happens in the game between Bilbao and Sevilla.

Lazio and Roma have both secured their place in Europa League with fifth and sixth place respectively. Fiorentina and Atalanta both tied on the same point will drag it out for a spot in Europa Conference League.

Meanwhile, in France, Rennes will be lurking around to see what happens in Monaco and Marseille’s game but will also need not drop a point against Lille, a point will be enough for a Europa League spot. While the Conference League spot battle will be between Strasbourg, Nice both level on points and Lens on 61 points.

Relegation Battle

Frank Lampard’s boys’ win against Crystal Palace on Thursday secured their premier league status. The relegation battle is now between Burnley and Leeds United. with both teams tied on 35 points, Burnley will host reignited Newcastle while Leeds United will travel to Brentford hoping to secure a win.

Granada will be on the lookout for the results from Mallorca and Cadiz even if Granada is a point ahead of the two teams, one of the three teams will join Levante and Alaves. Cadiz will play against relegated Alaves to win and also hope that Mallorca drops points against Osasuna or Espanyol beat Granada at home.

Salernitana is two points ahead of Cagliari and will look to continue their fine form when they face off against Udinese with hopes of Cagliari dropping points when they visit Venezia in their fight for survival.

The conclusion of the Bundesliga has seen Arminia Bielefeld and Greuther Furth relegated. In French Ligue 1, Metz,  Bordeaux, and Saint-Étienne are relegated also regardless of the last matchday results.
