Chioma Grace Ifemeludike, the governorship candidate for the African Action Congress (AAC), launched her campaign with a powerful pledge to “rebuild Anambra,” captivating attendees at a recent gubernatorial debate with a detailed plan focused on security, education, and a landmark minimum wage increase.

The candidate’s momentum is being amplified online, where her recent pictures have caused a stir on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), with many users sarcastically endorsing her for Governor of Anambra State.

Meanwhile, at the debate, organized by the Creative Mind Centre for Youth and Community Development and Active Citizens Media, Ifemeludike positioned herself as a pragmatic alternative, stating her campaign is “not built on empty promises or politics as usual, but on a realistic, achievable plan to make governance work for the people.”

She laid out a comprehensive vision for a “safer, smarter, and more inclusive Anambra,” built on several key pledges:

Security: Promising to launch a “strong and professional Vigilante Agency” that is properly trained and works within the law to restore community confidence.

Education & Economy: Committing to revamp school curricula, build modern infrastructure, and heavily invest in youth empowerment through vocational training and entrepreneurial support.

A Landmark Wage Increase: In a bold populist move, Ifemeludike pledged to raise the minimum wage for state workers to ₦100,000, a promise she called a “practical commitment” achievable by cutting government waste and boosting revenue.

Inclusive Governance: Vowing to appoint qualified persons with disabilities into her cabinet, ensuring they “have a voice at the decision-making table.”

The detailed policy speech, which also included plans to mechanize agriculture, was met with an enthusiastic response from the audience. “Ndi Anambra connected with our message because it was not built on abstract promises but on practical, measurable, and human-centred plans,” Ifemeludike stated.
