The President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari has announced to strongly condemn the killings of innocent people going on in the South-Eastern part of the country, as well as places in the nation. In his statement, the president referred to the killings as “wild, wanton and barbarous,” and said that all those involved in the attacks would be made to face the toughest possible response from security forces.

This statement was made shortly after some unknown gunmen killed a pregnant woman, Harira Jubril along with her four children and beheaded a lawmaker and his aide in the state. A video of the ghastly incident has surfaced online leading many Nigerians to loudly condemn the killing, even as the husband of the slain Harira told newsmen that she was supposed to give birth the same week her life was snuffed out.

Meanwhile, the Spokesperson for Anambra State Command, DSP Ikenganyia Anthony has announced that investigations have commenced into the matter. He said, “Our investigations have started over this matter and our plans are strategic because our aim is for us to get the people that committed this atrocity.”

The state governor, Professor Charles Soludo who also described the murders as “barbaric and unacceptable” also gave promises that they would find the gunmen responsible for the killing and deal with them to the full extent of the law.
