A fire incident took place in the maternity ward of a hospital in Tivaouane, Senegal. This unlucky incident in Mame Abdou Aziz Sy Dabakh Hospital has led to the death of eleven newborns.
It was stated in the beginning that the furnace was started by a short circuit which spread very quickly around the hospital.
This health facility had been inaugurated and the maternity unit was geared up to take care of 13 babies. The mayor of the city then again verified that three babies have been saved from the furnace
Emergency services have arrived at the scene to rescue people and keep the situation calm and the authorities has launched an investigation to find out the actual reason of the fire.
“To their mothers and their families, I express my deepest sympathy,” President Sall wrote in a tweet.
