Keystone Bank Limited in conjunction with Whispering Hope Africa Initiative, WHAI Africa has in honor of this year’s World Menstrual Hygiene Day, groomed over four hundred women and girls within the ages of childbearing on Menstrual Hygiene.

The event was graced by girl students, youths, and Women of childbearing age with some members of the community. This was held at the Civic Center, Anambra East Local Government, Umueri.

 Igwe Bennett Emeka, The traditional Leader of Umueri Community, in declaring the event open, Thanked the Keystone Bank and WHAI Africa for making Umueri the center of the initiative. He also stated that this gesture means a lot to the community as it would go a very long way in enlightening everyone involved in maintaining a good menstrual Hygiene.

The Ruler also expressed more thanks by attesting to the choosing of Umeri which he described as a welcome development and a step up to the community. He also saw it as an honor to the Umueri community promising to reciprocate the gesture, he also advised all beneficiaries to be a model of change by impacting their novel knowledge to others.

In summary of their speeches, Mrs. Uju Ezenwune, the manager, of Keystone Bank, and Nkechi Udegboka, the Executive Director, WHAI Africa have thanked the Umueri community for welcoming them in a grand style stating that the reason for the training was to enlighten young girls on how to take hygienically care of themselves while experiencing their menstrual cycles.

The President General, Umueri General Assembly, Chief Jonny Mechie in his remarks expressed optimism over the training while noting the importance of hygiene to everyone. He also stated that their community is blessed with talented people whereby he has started capacity building to train and empower them to become role models for their community and the society at large.

The training was Tagged “Let’s Talk Period” which saw to the distribution of dignity kits to all females present.

A Nice feat indeed.
