Officials have disclosed that 3 persons have died and 13 were wounded in the shooting that occurred in the late hours of Saturday in Philadelphia. The gunfire was said to have commenced close to the convergence of the Third and South streets which are located downtown.
Inspector D. F. Pace has been quoted saying “There were hundreds of individuals just enjoying South Street, as they do every weekend when the shooting broke out”.
Casualty workers who arrived at the convergence of Third and South streets by midnight had gone on to say that there were numerous active shooters at the time of their arrival. Police officers have also reported that they saw an unidentified man shooting into the crowd after which an officer had to shoot thrice at one of the gunmen. It hasn’t been ascertained if the man was hit by the officer’s gunfire.
At least 14 persons have been shot and 7 victims out of the 14 have been transported to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital to get their injuries treated. A hospital rep. has disclosed that the 3 dead victims were proclaimed dead on arrival. However, four other victims have been kept in stable conditions. Police officers have recovered two semiautomatic guns, with one having an extended magazine. An arrest was yet to be made. The police and other injured victims have since been moved to two additional hospitals in the locality.
