Following a wave of disturbing allegations that have left parents across the city in shock, the authorities at NAPTIP have officially launched a hunt for Simi to get to the bottom of “suggestive” claims involving a local childcare center. Binta Adamu Bello, the Director-General of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, made it clear on Friday that her office will not sit back while reports of child molestation and abuse circulate.
The agency has now ordered a full-scale investigation into an undisclosed daycare facility in Lagos, sparked by decade-old social media posts that have recently resurfaced with a vengeance.
The Social Media Trail
The trouble began when screenshots of tweets from 2012 and 2013, allegedly written by the popular singer Simisola Kosoko, better known as Simi, started making the rounds again. While the singer was recently praised for advocating for the castration of rapists, her critics dug into her past, unearthing comments that some interpret as being inappropriately suggestive regarding conduct in a daycare environment.

NAPTIP’s leadership noted that these “suggestive online posts” were the primary reason for the sudden inquiry, as the agency cannot ignore potential threats to minors, no matter how long ago the comments were made.
A Widening Investigation
NAPTIP isn’t the only body looking into this “Lagos Daycare Horror.” The Lagos State Government has also stepped in, with the Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) referring the entire matter to the Commissioner of Police. Lola Vivour-Adeniyi, the head of the DSVA, confirmed during a television interview that the state is taking the allegations very seriously. The goal is to identify the specific facility involved and determine if any children were actually put at risk or if the posts were simply a case of poor judgment and misinterpretation.
Simi Responds to the Uproar
For her part, Simi has attempted to douse the fire. She maintains that the old tweets are being taken out of context and have been completely misinterpreted by those looking to tarnish her reputation. She insists there was never any improper conduct.
However, the sheer volume of public outcry has forced the government’s hand. NAPTIP has opened all its communication platforms, urging anyone who may have been a victim or has information about this specific daycare to come forward immediately.
Protection Over Popularity
The agency has sent a loud message that child protection remains its absolute priority, regardless of who is involved. While the investigation is still in its early stages, the “Lagos Daycare Horror” serves as a sad reminder of how social media history can collide with real-world legal consequences.
As the authorities continue to piece together the timeline of these allegations, the focus remains on ensuring that no child in a Lagos facility is currently in harm’s way.
