Ken Nnamani Speaks Up on Withdrawing from the Presidential Race

A presidential aspirant until yesterday, Ken Nnamani, pulled out of the presidential race at the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primaries just before the national convention. The former President of the Senate and lawmaker announced his withdrawal at a meeting with reporters in Abuja on Monday, 6th June.

He had stated that given the current occurrences in his party, it wouldn’t make much sense to keep on in the race as he has not had the favor to sell his profile and ideas to the delegates of the party in a manner that allowed for deliberation and self-introspection. And that was the reason he gave for pulling back on his presidential aspiration. Nonetheless, Mr. Nnamani still harbors goodwill for the political party and wants a “unity of purpose” so that the APC can clinch the 2023 presidential general elections.

He further disclosed that he would keep on engaging with the political party and its leadership to ensure that the ideas and values that he cherished and cultivated would find a secure foothold in the party administration and public leadership after the election.”  With the withdrawal of former Senate President, Ken Nnamani, there are remains 22 aspirants still running in the race.

Mr. Nnamani had also expressed his dissatisfaction with the implication that zoning had been tossed out in the party as one of the reasons for him leaving the party.
