Manchester United are close to signing Newcastle United captain Bruno Guimarães for a fee of around €80 million, but the interest from Real Madrid could make things difficult for the English club.
The Red Devils have set their sights on the Brazilian midfielder as a primary replacement for Casemiro, who is expected to leave Old Trafford. It is said that Casemiro has officially recommended Guimarães as the perfect one to replace him, praising the latter’s leadership and great experience at the top level.
The Magpies’ elimination by Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League has led to the player’s departure being a possibility, and United wasted no time to take advantage of the moment.

But Madrid’s decades-old admiration for Guimarães has come to the surface again. The coach Carlo Ancelotti, who has even suggested the midfielder as the one who can replace the club’s old stars, is once again asking for the player’s signing. The Italian, who is now also working with Guimarães in the international level, is sure the player is a suitable one for Madrid’s midfield totally changing.
Along with Florentino Pérez, who is also completely on board, Madrid’s fresh interest could lead to a duel for the signing, thus making Guimarães uncertain about his future come the summer window.
