Many Nigerians had sleepless nights following up the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primaries taking place at the Eagle Square, Abuja.

The convention has Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu (BAT) emerged as the party’s presidential candidate. The same man that there has been so much brouhaha of his disqualification days back. This is Nigeria, where anything happens.

The rejected stone has become the cornerstone of the house. It was drama when in less than 30 minutes up to the commencement of voting, initially, 23 candidates were cleared for the primary, but at the eleventh hour, the contest has streamlined to about three aspirants when six aspirants which included the former governor of Ogun State, Ibikunle Amosun, former governor of Akwa Ibom, Godswill Apkabio and current Ekiti State governor Kayode Fayemi stepped-down for him (BAT). The chips were down and then there was no compromise. The Jagaban of Borgu had it.

The science of Abracadabra is all about the more you look the less you see. And That is what the party has been portraying since its inception as the ruling party. They had envisaged the strong stand of their opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and would go shopping for a big fish to tackle the opposition.

Political communication is vital at this stage. It is either the party’s interest over rules self-interest and not the other way round.

The die is cast now for the ruling party to see beyond the box. A party that has only held sway of the presidency for seven years as compared to the opposition that has been in power for 16 years needed to tidy up their house and work assiduously together to wrought greater success then improve on governance to affect the populace.

The pass mark so far is uncommonly low for the ruling party. The only icing on the cake is spearheading a leadership that will correct all the abnormalities of the past seven years and then the confidence of the generality of Nigerians in the party will be put in place.

As it is now, the presidential contest is between PDP’s Atiku Abubakar, APC’s Ahmed Tinubu, and of course LP’s Peter Obi. The following weeks and months will resurrect the spirit of politicking and culminate to produce the next president come 2023.
