US Lawmaker Warns Nigeria of 'Consequences' After Jos Massacre

The fragile peace in Plateau State was shattered once again on Sunday, when radical terrorists reportedly opened fire on worshippers in Anguwan Rukuba, Jos, before using machetes to “hack them to pieces,” at least 10 Christians were martyred in the assault. Reacting to the horror, US Congressman Riley Moore, a member of a fact-finding delegation on Christian genocide, warned that the “blood of these martyrs” will be on the hands of the Federal Government if security is not “massively ramped up” for Easter.

The “Tomahawk” Standard

In a post that has gone viral, Moore highlighted a disturbing pattern of violence targeting religious observances. He noted that the only recent Holy Day spared from such carnage was last Christmas, which he attributed to President Trump sending 12 Tomahawk cruise missiles to halt the terrorists.

Moore stated that the US is watching Abuja’s response to the upcoming Triduum and Easter. Failure to mobilize will lead to “significant consequences” for the Nigeria-US relationship. The Congressman described the killings as part of a systematic pattern of “radical Islamic terrorists” targeting Christians, a claim that adds weight to the ongoing debate regarding genocide in the Middle East and Africa. This warning comes at a terrible time for the presidency, as the US has already cut Nigerian crude imports by nearly 50%, adding financial pressure to the diplomatic fire.

A Presidency Under Siege

While the Oluwo of Iwo is busy “scoping” Nigerians into begging for a Third Term, the international community is looking at the corpses in Jos and the 13 slain wedding guests in Kaduna and asking if the government is even in control of its own borders.

If the US decides to move beyond words and into “consequences,” we could see targeted sanctions, a total halt on military aid, or further cuts to oil imports. The Tinubu administration can’t hide behind “sovereignty” when its own citizens are being slaughtered during Palm Sunday mass. The “prodigal sons” of the North and the machete-wielding radicals of the Plateau are making a mockery of Nigerian security, and now, Washington is officially out of patience.
