Manchester City managed to come from behind and win 2- 1 against Southampton in a thrilling FA Cup semi-final at Wembley Stadium, with Nico Gonzalez netting the late winner.
Pep Guardiola’s team had a great start to the game and missed a few times, but the referee’s assistant frequently raised the offside flag, and City felt hard done by with two also quite marginal offside decisions against Omar Marmoush. At the same time, Southampton were also denied by the VAR after a goal in the first 10 minutes that was disallowed, which was a sign of a very balanced and first half where really big chances for goals were not seen.

Despite City being the ones dominating the game and having the majority of the possession, the team from the Championship was quite compact and stopped confidently, and suddenly in the 79th minute, caught the favourite side off guard as Finn Azaz picked up the ball around the edge of the box and with a first-time curling strike sent the ball flying over the helpless James Trafford.
The only problem was that City also had a very good moment after this. Just 4 minutes later, Jeremy Doku scored an equaliser after the ball took a deflection on its way to the goal, and Gonzalez with a shot from long distance, completed the victory.
Late in the game, Southampton were the ones desperate to find a goal, but unfortunately for them, they never managed to make a difference, and Manchester City fans were celebrating their side reaching the final. Guardiola’s team is going to play against Chelsea or Leeds United for the FA Cup trophy.
