Several persons are feared dead following an attack by suspected herdsmen along the Odugbeho–Aila Road in Agatu Local Government Area of Benue State.
According to reports, the victims were returning from their farms when the attackers, who allegedly laid an ambush along the route, opened fire on them.
The exact number of casualties could not be confirmed as of the time of filing this report, but at least four bodies were said to have been recovered from the scene.
Two of the victims were identified as Joy Simon and Lyta Monet.
The incident has reportedly thrown residents of the area into fear, while security authorities are yet to issue an official statement on the attack.
