The Federal Road Safety Corps has confirmed the motor crash that happened on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway on Saturday night. The crash which happened on the federal road in the Ogunmakin area of Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area, Ogun State, involved a trailer and a Mazda bus with registration number SHK 684 XA , which claimed the lives of four persons, while eight others had sustained different degrees of injuries.
Ahmed Umar, the sector commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, had explained the cause of the accident to be a fault of the bus driver who was at speed and had lost control of the bus which eventually hit the stationed truck.
The bus had thirteen occupants comprising twelve men and one woman. Three men and one woman had died in the bus and their bodies had been deposited at the FOS morgue, Ipara while the remaining men who were injured have been taken to Victory Hospital in Ogere.
The commander said that the crash was something that could have been avoided if the driver had taken cautionary measures. The driver would have used the appropriate speed limit because it was raining. He further advised motorists to obey traffic rules and regulations, especially on the limitations placed on speed.
He sent his condolences to the family of the victims and asked them to contact the FRSC command in the Ogunmakin area of the state for more information on the crash and to reclaim the victim’s properties which were gotten from the accident scene.
