Chelsea have already started to overhaul their squad before the arrival of head coach Xabi Alonso, as they confirm a host of new signings will arrive and five players who will depart Stamford Bridge over the summer period.

The former Real Madrid manager, who will take up his role as Chelsea head coach on July 1st after signing a four-year deal, is also said to have a major say on transfer strategy at the club with Chelsea’s sporting directors alongside him. Sources claim he has prioritized a new centre-back, a central midfielder and a left-winger.

Plenty of arrivals are also due in the coming months, with Sporting CP’s Geovany Quenda set to arrive after an agreement was struck for the Blues to pay €40 million for the player in 2025, and Strasbourg’s impressive forward Emmanuel Emegha and Valentin Barco are both set to make the switch from their sister club.

Also heading to Stamford Bridge is Kazakhstan forward Dastan Satpaev, and Belgian goalkeeper Mike Penders, who had an impressive loan spell at Strasbourg, is also set to return to the club as the Blues believe he could be their number one for years to come.

Meanwhile, it’s official that academy players Jimi Tauriainen, Sam Rak-Sakyi, Richard Olise and Brodi Hughes will all be leaving Chelsea after seeing their contracts expire at the end of the month, and goalkeeper James Hillson also departs after a year spent working alongside the first team.

More departures are expected in the next few weeks as Alonso plans for life at the club, with more players set to leave in order for them to be challenging for titles again.
