The Blues have lodged a further offer for Spanish left-back Pep Chavarria to Rayo Vallecano after Xabi Alonso signaled the need for defensive reinforcement with the departure of Marc Cucurella to Real Madrid.
The Premier League club are relentless in their pursuit of the 28-year-old, after their previous offer of around 12.8m was rejected at the beginning of July. It is believed that the Stamford Bridge club have already agreed personal terms with Chavarria and the deal simply hinges on negotiations between the two clubs.
It is thought that Alonso wants Chavarria to replace departing Cucurella after his 51.8m switch to the Spanish capital to join the giants following 4 years at the Bridge. The Spaniard made an emotional exit from the London-based side and thanked all of his Chelsea teammates, fans and the entire club.
Chelsea have already had a strong transfer window under Alonso. The Blues have made a number of successful signings that would leave an exciting squad to look forward to during the 2026/2027 season and a further acquisition in the shape of Chavarria would provide defensive cover at left-back.
Negotiations between the two teams appear to be ongoing and with the player also believed to be happy to complete a move to Chelsea, negotiations with Rayo Vallecano should be completed soon.
