UEFA is preparing to open criminal proceedings against the president of FIFA, Gianni Infantino, due to the FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE) proposal and plan in the U.S, increasing the conflict between the two football associations.
UEFA has taken legal action in the U.S and opened files which indicate possible charges in Switzerland against FIFA’s Infantino and several of his advisors for ”criminal mismanagement.”
It was reported that the FFE plan, where the sales of 20% in FIFA business ventures would create approx 4.2 billion USD, failed to win enough support among the UEFA members since the organizations felt that the deal suggested that FIFA has a value below 20 million USD, where UEFA believed it to be 30 million USD or over.
As FIFA president Gianni Infantino reportedly promised lucrative payments to support his project that, it was claimed, excluded FIFA Council and would bring member associations to their feet, Infantino said he wanted to form a new investment company with a 20 percent stake in FIFA business ventures.
UEFA had threatened to lead its own football and sport unions in a global boycott against the proposed plan, but it now suspended its threat following FIFA‘s promises that the offer would not reappear.
