According to Babatunde Fashola, Minister of Works and Housing, the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway will be finished in December 2022.

The 127-kilometer road would be finished before Christmas, according to Fashola, who spoke on Channels Television on Sunday evening. He added that this was, however, dependent on several factors.

“The expected completion of this road will be in the last month of this year. We are hoping that we will be done before Christmas and that is subject to a lot of variables,” Fashola said.

In response to inquiries on the success of the President’s government on infrastructure over the previous seven years, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (ret.)

Fashola added that the Buhari administration was involved in numerous contracts, all of which he was unable to mention in full on television.

Fashola stated that there was often a lot of work involved in building roads and said that governments can not simply start building them and finish them in two years.

The Lagos-Ibadan Expressway has long been plagued by problems for users, particularly traffic, which has recently gotten worse as a result of recent development at the Otedola section of the route, heading towards Berger.

However, according to Fashola, various elements, including “Environmental Impact Assessment, relocation of people, real design, funds, etc.,” typically have an impact on road construction even before the projects are started.

He pointed out that it was irrelevant to talk about whose government began or completed a route.

He observed that the progress on the road was swift. He further said that only the Buhari administration was recouping money that had been stolen and was intended for certain projects.
