The NLC chairman, Mr Ayuba said that the union is in support of the ASUU, revealing that Nigerian lecturers are underpaid in Nigeria, which is not so in other African countries. He even said that if after the protest, the federal government does not respond, labor as a whole will go on a three-day warning strike, to protest over the Injustice done to the educational system in Nigeria.
The House of Rep has decided to intervene in the ongoing strike, as university lecturers are out on the street protesting, and if care is not taken it can escalate to another issue. Muhammad Wadil, the chairman of the house committee on labor, made this revelation when members of the NLC came to protest at the National assembly.
Wudil said that the house has discussed with relevant persons on ways on how the strike can be brought to an end, he further assured members of NLC that they’ll have another meeting with all the stakeholders to discuss and carry out appropriate measures so that the strike can come to an end.
