Gabriel Agbonlahor, ex-Aston Villa legend, has told Chelsea’s head coach, Thomas Tuchel that he should thank his stars that Chelsea is under new ownership because if the club was still under the ownership of Roman Abramovich, he would have been sacked.

He said this due to Chelsea’s shambolic performance in their match against Southampton yesterday which they lost in a 2-1 defeat to Southampton. Despite all their signings this summer, it seems there are still a lot of problems with the squad.

Todd Bohely the new owner of Chelsea, is a very patient and understanding man, as there were reports that Tuchel’s contract would be renewed. If it were to be under Abramovich’s ownership, Tuchel would be packing his bags by now, As he had no patience and hated losing.

According to Agbonlahor, Tuchel is under a lot of pressure, as the club is struggling to make it to the top four, which was not the case before. Arsenal has stepped up their game and is really doing well, same as Tottenham, Chelsea might just end up finishing fifth and that really bad, considering that they’ve spent up to €168m. Looking at the number of points they’ve gotten, this season would go like last season for Chelsea

“Thomas Tuchel has got to be under pressure,” Agbonlahor told talkSPORT. “Chelsea are used to winning Premier League titles; now they are going to be looking at a fight for the top four.

“Arsenal is looking very good, Spurs are looking very good. Chelsea could finish fifth this season.

“That is unacceptable with the amount of money they have spent.

The previous owner of Chelsea would have sacked him by now for last season’s Premier League finish.

“The number of points they finished behind Man City and Liverpool and this season looks like it will go the same way.”
