The Chief Imam and three other attendees were killed in an attack on a mosque in Borno State by suspected Boko Haram fighters. It was discovered that the terrorists had also kidnapped other worshippers. In the neighborhood of Ngulde, the incident happened on Friday during Fajr prayers. The neighborhood is located in the state’s Askira-Uba Local Government Area. The attackers, who were reportedly numbering around 20, stormed the mosque and started shooting at worshippers, according to Daily Post.

One person was injured but later passed away in a hospital, while three of the congregation members perished instantaneously at the site. In addition, it was claimed that the terrorists stole food and cattle before setting fire to two community members’ vehicles. In a statement released on Sunday, the council member for Ngulde Ward, Bilyaminu, acknowledged the incident, stating it “took four (4) lives and left many with injuries, while buildings and businesses worth millions of naira were also damaged and hauled away by the militants.”

The incident was also confirmed by Abdullahi Askira, the deputy speaker of Borno State. Askira claimed that the terrorists barged into the neighborhood and sought out the whereabouts of the leader of the neighborhood hunters and vigilantes, who was said to be their main objective. He claimed that the terrorists went directly to the mosque and opened fire on worshippers when they became angry over the response they received.
