Rafa Benitez, ex Everton’s boss has cautioned Graham Potter Chelsea’s new manager that playing nice football won’t save his job if he doesn’t register a win in the next six months.

If we can recall, Thomas Tuchel was sacked as Chelsea’s manager and 48 hours later Graham Potter was appointed as Chelsea’s new coach. Heads have been high up watching Potter’s performance to see if he would win his first match as Chelsea’s manager, but unfortunately, he was unable to register a win in his first match as manager against Bull Salzburg in the UEFA champions league which ended in a draw.

Benitez when asked about his opinion on Graham, he said that Graham did a great job in Brighton, but that was simply because Brighton created a favorable environment for Graham to develop his ideas, but now Graham will feel the pressure at Chelsea as he has to win matches, because playing nice won’t save his job.

He further said, Potter has to take Chelsea to the top four, in the EPL, and all this will be demanding as he will be going up against top clubs, but hopefully, Graham is a knowledgeable man and might give the club what they want

“When you have good ideas and they give you time, you can develop something, so the environment was good for him.

“Now, he will feel the pressure [at Chelsea]. Hopefully, he does well, because I do like him.

“But he has to win. Now you cannot play nice football for six months and win nothing.

“He has to be in the top four, he has to challenge for trophies. It is another weight. The fans will be demanding.

“You have to win, you have to compete against Manchester City, Liverpool, Manchester United, Arsenal, and Tottenham.

“It will be more demanding for him. He knows, can he [do it at Chelsea?] We will see in the future.”
