The Zamfara State government has lifted its ban on political activities in the state.

Alhaji Ibrahim Dosara, the state’s Commissioner for Information announced this through a statement on Monday in Gusau.

Previously, the state government had on October 13, banned all political rallies and electioneering campaigns after the resurgence of

banditry and kidnapping in certain communities in the state.

Additionally, the curfew placed on Gummi, Anka, and Bukkuyum local government areas, was lifted for the same reason.

Schools, markets, and public places which had been shut down by the government in nine towns, recently, due to the increased insecurity in the affected areas have also been reopened.

Dosara stressed in the statement that the approval had come after satisfactory reports had been received, regarding the security situation in those communities.

In the commissioner’s words:

“People are advised to conduct themselves following the rule of law, as the government will not condone any act capable of disrupting the peace and tranquillity being restored by our gallant security operatives.”
