The recent norm, for bandits, is to kidnap religious leaders and demand Ransom. Evangelist Nuhu Bakwa and his pastor friend who was kidnapped on Monday have been released.

The report has it that they were released on Thursday night after the family paid a certain amount to kidnappers as Ransom for their freedom, initially the Kidnappers demanded 10 million with the threat that they’ll kill them if the family fails to pay.

A family friend revealed to news respondents that they’ve been released, according to the source they were seriously wounded and assaulted by the abductors as they could barely walk, and they’ve been taken to the hospital for medical treatment.

His words, “The kidnapped Rev. Dr. Nuhu Bakwa and a friend, Pastor, were released at about 8:30 on Thursday after payment of the ransom. The victims were dropped by the kidnappers at the same spot they were kidnapped: a filling station at Maraba Jama, close to the NDLEA checkpoint.

“The two pastors were maltreated and wounded; they could not walk properly due to the severe beating. They are presently receiving medical attention.”

According to the state Commissioner of Police, CP Bartholomew Onyeka, his men are currently trying to track the hideout of the kidnappers, he also said that someone must have given the kidnappers information on the whereabouts of the Clerics.

“Based on the study I have carried out, there is no case of kidnapping without an indictment. It must be somebody who might have known such a person personally. It is very reckless to stop somebody in the road and kidnap him; there must be prior information.” He said
