Ahead of the upcoming 2023 general elections, Nigeria’s electoral commission, INEC has warned citizens of the country that it was aware that some politicians were in the business of buying up Permanent Voter Cards, PVCs, from alleged poverty-stricken Nigerians and has warned that anyone caught selling his or her PVC which is a violation of the Electoral Act, would be dragged to court and face prosecution

The electoral body had raised the alarm on Monday, December 12, and had additionally revealed that the desperate politicians were financially inducing unsuspecting voters to harvest their Voter Identification Numbers, VINs.

Already, the INEC National Commissioner overseeing the FCT, Nasarawa, Kaduna, and Plateau states, Mohammed Haruna, who had been the one to raise the alarm revealed that two people had already been convicted for illegal possession of PVCs in Sokoto and Kano states.
